Zartan has been described as “lethal as a two-headed rattler disguised as a garter snake.” That is the best description available for him, since virtually nothing is known about his background or his true personality. He can alter his skin at will and is a master of make-up, disguise, and ventriloquism. All his talents make him the perfect infiltrator, and he's been known to pull the wool over G.I. Joe's (and even COBRA's) eyes completely on many occasions. Some attribute it to his practice of several mystical martial arts.

No matter how he manages it, the result is that even he doesn't know what his original personality or identity was.Taking on so many personalities has destabilized Zartan's psyche a bit, so he's volatile even at the best of times. This has also made him the perfect leader for the Dreadnoks: a group of mercenaries that nominally work with COBRA, but really just enjoy chaos and violence. Zartan's siblings Zarana and Zandar are also Dreadnoks, making it a deadly family business indeed.

Zartan is available in the Heroscape G.I. Joe: Mission Specialists Army Expansion. Pre-Order now for a March 2027 release!
